Sunday Club runs every week in term time during the All Age Service. It caters for those aged 3 to 13 years.
Children are encouraged to stay in the service for the first 20 minutes, which will normally include a children’s talk. For the rest of the service the young people will head out to Sunday Club. This is an active and dynamic session, including games, singing, crafts and a bible story or drama. We believe that this time each week is a great opportunity to share the love of Jesus with each and every young person.
The group is split into age groups to ensure your child is in an age appropriate group and all their needs are met. All our leaders are fully checked through Disclosure Scotland.
Bible Class runs at the same time as Sunday Club. It caters for secondary school age youth, with a focus on discovering what the Bible teaches us. It aims to be a safe space where teenagers can explore what God’s Word means in practice for them.
We run a youth group fortnightly on a Friday night from 7-9pm for young people from S1 to S6. Everyone is welcome to hang out with us for games, crafts, and other activities, and to chat about God, faith and the Bible. See our Instagram page @fec_youth for updates and email ferniehillyouth@gmail.com for more information.
We meet fortnightly on Friday night 6:30-9pm for dinner and bible study at Catriona’s house. This is a safe space to explore difficult questions and consider how the bible impacts our daily lives.
We provide a fortnightly drop-in Homework Hub for local young people to get support with homework, exams or careers advice and have a quiet place to hang out (Sept – May). This is staffed by qualified teachers and is open to S1 to S6.
Please use the details on the Contact Us page for more information on any of these activities.
Our Home Bible Study groups run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting at 7:30pm and finishing around 9:30pm. We currently have 4 different groups, meeting in members’ homes or online.
The format of the evening includes a time of prayer and around an hour of studying God’s word together, discussing what it means to us and how it should change us and shape us as God’s people. At the end of the evening there is an opportunity for fellowship with a cup of tea/coffee and a bit of cake.
These groups are a great chance to get to know our Church family better, and to ask all the difficult or obvious questions you want!
Our Prayer Meeting is held fortnightly on a Tuesday evening running from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, and will be held online only until March 2023.
At Ferniehill we believe that everything we do should be surrounded in prayer. We have an emphasis on praying for all our Church Activities, praying for family and friends as well as for the wider world.
Our time usually starts with a reading from the Bible with comments brought by one of our members. We then break into groups to pray together but there is no pressure for anyone to pray out loud if they would rather not. Please feel free to join us.
This group meets for Bible study and coffee once a month on a Monday morning. We meet in the home of one of our members and enjoy a time of friendship and prayer for each other, using various study materials to cover Bible books, characters, issues facing Christian women etc. We welcome any new members to the group.
This group meets monthly on the last Wednesday of the month in the home of one of our members, from 10 to 11:30am. We pray for missionary activity locally and internationally, with a particular focus on missionaries supported financially by the church.
Around four times a year we meet in the church building on a Saturday morning for breakfast, a talk and a time of prayer. This is open to men and boys of all ages, whether part of the church or not.
In months that have five Sundays, we meet on the fifth Sunday in the church building, after the All Age Service, for a time of food and fellowship.
We run a weekly Pilates class on a Monday evening. It’s open to women only and is a great place to keep fit and have a chat, all at the same time!
As we are led by a qualified instructor there is a small charge of £7 each week. Feel free to pop along and have a go for yourself.
This group meets once a month to discuss a Christian book. It’s aimed primarily at people in their 20s and 30s. The group usually meets in a member’s home on the last Thursday in the month, for dinner and chat.
We meet once a month to discuss a book that we’ve read – usually a novel from a wide range of genres! The group usually meets online on the first Thursday in the month.
Once a quarter we meet in the church building on a Saturday afternoon for a time of fellowship and prayer, often with a theme or guest speaker. This is open to women and girls of all ages, whether part of the church or not.
